Codex/Codendi customers include large enterprises, SMEs and software and
computing services companies. Large companies from various industry sectors
(electronics, telecommunication...) have already recognized the Xerox
expertise in the domain of enterprise software reuse. By adopting Codendi
they benefit from a series of tools that are well suited for day-to-day
software development work and they can rely on the Xerox world-wide
presence for an unparalleled quality of support and services.
Xerox
Xerox, a 55 000 employee company with 3 000 software developers across
5 continents, pioneered internal software sharing and reuse as early as
June 2000 to improve its software productivity and return on investment.
With more than 400 hosted projects operated by 3 000 software developers,
the CodeX/Codendi platform has become a pivotal asset for the Xerox Corporation.

Minalogic, the global competitiveness cluster, fosters research-led
innovation in intelligent miniaturized products and solutions for industry.
Located in Grenoble, France, the cluster brings together in a single physical
location a range of highly-specialized skills and resources from knowledge
creation to the development and production of intelligent miniaturized
services for industry.
Minalogic has staked out a position as global leader in intelligent
miniaturized solutions?a unique hybrid of micro- and nano-technologies
and embedded software?from fundamental research to technology transfer.
Minalogic brings together major corporations, small and mid-sized businesses,
government agencies, and organisations from the public and private sectors.
The cluster's focus on innovation and its participatory governance model
are designed with one objective in mind: to ensure efficient, results-oriented
cooperation among cluster partners.
Why Minalogic Cluster choose Codendi?
Answer by Laurent Julliard, Director of the "Embedded System on Chip"
Minalogic worshop
« As the first Minalogic projects were starting up, and with a growing
number of new projects being proposed, Minalogic needed to provide its
members with a platform for collaborative work that met the specific
needs of the micro-nanotechnology and software-on-chip communities.
Minalogic choose the Codendi platform of Xerox for several reasons:
- it offers generic collaboration and communication tools such as document sharing, forums, and mailing lists,
- but also more advanced features such as configuration management, bug tracking, software deliveries and fine-grained management of access permissions.
Objet Direct Success Story
Explanations from Dominique Méra
Project Director - Objet Direct

The Situation
For implementing agile methodology, Objet Direct, need to have reliable communication tools, furthermore when project members are located in different sites. Indeed, it is the case when we develop projects for customers in our offices or for internal development tools. The requirements to satisfy are mainly:
- document management,
- source code management,
- files sharing (code delivery, database dump),
- task tracker,
- request tracker (bugs, questions, evolution...),
- risks tracker.
The Solution
After collaborating with Xerox to develop Codendi, we chose to implement the platform for internal use because it meets all the Objet Direct different requirements. For one year now, we are using it for our projects.
Codendi is installed on an external server that we rent to a hosting company. Three collaborators have the wide-ranging permissions for administration. The platform is interfaced with our LDAP directory, this way the identification is the same for all our internal applications.
The Benefits
Each project leader asks for creating a new project directly from Codendi and is able to reach his project few minutes after its approval by one of the administrators. The project manager becomes automatically the administrator of the project and can define project members and their permissions.
Additional accounts can be created directly in Codendi even if there are not in the Objet Direct LDAP directory. Those accounts are usually for our customers. This way they can transparency access to all information to follow-up their projects.
Project configuration parameters can be easily copied for other projects. For instance, configuration parameters for risks have been defined in one project, put at all users? disposal and re-used in other projects. The wealth of configuration parameters offer enables to adapt the tool to specific requirements of each project. In a few days after getting their hands on the platform, new project leaders can easily customize their project area and choose software and management tools (SVN, Eclipse plugin, wiki, mailing list...) they want to use for their project.
